- General DiscussionI subscribe to a variety of uplifting blogs and newsletters. Every morning, I read through these and start my day in a good mood. This morning I read this article from Happify about women supporting women using mastermind groups. The article described the excitement Miss Nigeria had for her friend in this competition, where she beat her in winning the Miss World title. It's hard not to smile when you see that kind of support. I wanted to post something about it on this network because, that's exactly what QVWoman provides - a group of women who support one another! Another fun tidbit from this morning's perusal of things that made me smile was this video from Growing Bolder about a spunky 100-year-old, Dorothy Turner Johnson. I loved listening to her story and seeing how intelligent and articulate she was, even at age 100. What an inspiration! (When I went to see if I could connect with her, I saw that she had died, but what a full life she had!) The day went on for me and enjoyed long calls from my sister and my daughter-in-law. I got a fun picture in a text from my friend, Becky! She's getting some special attention from a new flamingo friend! I feel so grateful for all the wonderful women in my life and for this supportive network! Thanks to @Aparna Saligrama and to all of you who support and contribute!Like
- AnnouncementsAre you ready to live your best life? Using proven philosophies and methods, this four-week class will share an Agile approach to happiness, living a fulfilling life, deepening relationships and accomplishing your dreams. This set of seminars, along with the exercises, will help you gain the skills to transform both your professional and personal life. During the first week of class you will pick a goal that you would like to have completed by the end of the four weeks. This can be anything from losing weight to starting a business to learning a new skill. Each week we will talk about concepts, tools, and techniques to keep you on track. In the final week you will “demo” your goal for the class. There is no failure, only learning. Besides learning productivity techniques to help you accomplish your goals, you’ll learn more about communication, relationships, and emotional intelligence. You’ll learn how to coach one another for success. The mindset shifts and reframing techniques will provide a base for you to continue improving your relationships and happiness throughout your life. Initial class: Come prepared with an idea of a goal you want to work on throughout the month. If there's interest, a team goal might be to plan a local excursion. Each class will consist of a 1 hour interactive lecture, followed by an optional 1 hour discussion session. The topics will include: Week 1: What is Agile? Mindset vs. Framework Giving and Receiving Feedback Coaching and Accountability Partners What goal would you like to accomplish by the end of Week 4? Week 2: Emotional Intelligence Self-Awareness Mindfulness Body Language Teamwork Week 3: Time Management Working in Iterations Prioritization Focus Backlogs Week 4: The Demo Review Celebration Adaptability Planning and Next Steps Cost: Since this is a new class that I’m developing, I’m offering it at a highly-discounted rate. The first class is free so you can see if it appeals to you. The remainder of the course is $50 for the virtual class and $100 for the in-person class. You can receive a 50% refund for providing feedback and a full refund if you are dissatisfied in any way. Where: I’ll offer this class both locally (at my home in Superior, CO) as well as virtually, so you can pick whichever you prefer. (Note that everyone in my household is fully vaccinated.) When: in Person: Saturdays starting May 1, 3-5pm at my Superior home (address given to those who RSVP yes) Virtual: Thursdays starting April 29, 6-8pm. https://us02web.zoom.us/j/3038036263 My Credentials: I’m a professional Agile coach in the Corporate Leadership domain. Agile frameworks are often used for software development teams. However, the tools and techniques are adaptable and can be used in any domain. They focus on relationships, collaboration and productivity. I also have studied positive psychology, wellness, and self-improvement. I’ve been using Agile techniques to optimize my own happiness and I’d love to share these methods with others!Like
- General DiscussionA friend of mine passed along an article that highlighted some big ways in which medical treatments have been tested on men, with the assumption that gender wouldn't matter. In fact, it's been found, that women have responded differently. In some cases, this discrepancy has been a matter of life and death. "What we're telling women is, every time you go to the doctor, ask, 'Has this treatment or drug been tested on women?'" https://www.marieclaire.com/health-fitness/a26741/doctors-treat-women-like-men/Like
