"The story of an hour" by Kate Chopin

In case anyone is interested, the story collection "Distant View of a Minaret and Other Stories" by Alifa Rifaat is another one that will resonate with this. Esp. the title story- Distant View of a Minaret is very similar to 'Story of an hour' but Rifaat, to our knowledge was uninfluenced by Western culture... We could not find a free copy of the story but can of course be purchased. That and other stories is a good read, definitely! Here is a link from Amazon.
